Board-certified plastic surgeon in Connecticut. Founder, investor, and author of Owner, Not Operator (Quiet Empire Press, 2026).

In 1990 Patrick opened his first surgical practice. Early on, he sat at the kitchen table one night with a legal pad, added up what the practice owed against what it had actually collected that month, and put the pen down. The report said profit. The bank said something else.
He was about $250,000 in debt before the practice turned a real profit. He had the degree, the residency, and the technical skill, and none of it showed up on that page. So he learned the rest the hard way: cash flow, hiring, pricing, reimbursement, marketing, decision-making, and systems.
He built a practice with its own operating room and MedSpa, was an early provider of CO2 laser resurfacing in Connecticut, and ran the practice for more than three decades. Outside medicine, he invests in and builds companies, including:
ParentCare sits apart from his business work. He built it for families caring for an aging parent, a time that can get chaotic fast. It keeps the doctors and contacts, appointments, medications and dosages, insurance, and the living will in one app, with a place for siblings to message each other. parentcares.org
Owner, Not Operator (Quiet Empire Press, 2026) is the guide he wishes he'd had at that kitchen table: a practical look at starting and sustaining a business, written for professionals who are done being the bottleneck. You can get it free.
In the late '60s and '70s, Patrick played rock and roll, and the music paid his tuition.
